Explain what you do here at GDS.
I’m a project manager involved with mechanical design.

Why do you enjoy working the engineering/design/construction field?
I like the design segment and in addition like seeing the finished product.

What is your favorite work-related memory?
Socializing with co-workers and playing a few phone pranks on co-workers.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional baseball player.

What inspires you?
God’s word. My goal is to walk and live by His standard every day.

What accomplishment or award you are most proud of?
I have no hardware (awards) to speak of but I would say I’m proud of being loyal and dependable with what is expected of me at GDS.

Tell us about your background and why you chose to work at GDS?
I started out working for J.F. Pritchard & Co, down on the plaza. I’m not sure if Pritchard is still in existence. From there, I worked for a couple of MEP firms before coming to work for GDS back in 1984… yes, way back in the 20th century.

A friend actually told me about GDS, which was originally named Gibbens and Swinney, and that they were hiring. I interviewed and was hired. One of the first projects I worked on, believe it or not, was an AMC theatre in Miami, Florida. Believe it or not, a site visit to that location in early ’85 was my first plane ride….I know, I lived a sheltered life. Ironic that from 2013 to the present, we were again involved with AMC theatre work.

Tell us about a special talent or a strength you have.
I would love to be able to play the piano. I do like/have the ability to do projects like tiling and painting.

What do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with our grandkids and coaching high school basketball. I’ve been involved with a high school program since 2002. I enjoy teaching the game/life lessons and seeing kids mature into young adults thru the game basketball.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Dependable, loyal & patient.
