Explain what you do here at GDS.
I try to find interesting projects in which the company can be a valued participant. I also handle whatever is required technically or administratively.

Why do you enjoy working the engineering/design/construction field?
Being able watch a project transition from a thought to fruition is quite rewarding.

What is your favorite work-related memory?
There are too many to have a single favorite; my favorites include being part of the 1989 Citrus Bowl Expansion in Orlando, FL; working with Herb Saffir, PE (the co-developer of the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale while working on the design for the National Hurricane Center project in Miami, FL; driving to Colorado for a project meeting the week after 9/11 due to no airline service; standing in the Arctic Ocean while on a trip to Barrow, AK for the renovation of the Weather Service Office, and new housing in Barrow; watching the sunset over the Rocky Mountains during the commissioning of a Data Center in Aurora, CO; being part of a great design team for the new Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, CA; and everyday working with my co-workers at Gibbens Drake Scott, Inc.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A pilot.

What inspires you?
Knowing that we can help clients solve problems.

What accomplishment or award you are most proud of?
The accomplishment I’m most proud of is the fact that a small MEP design firm headquartered in Raytown, MO has had a role in some of the largest local projects: the Sprint/T-Mobile Campus of 4M Sq.ft., the IRS Service Center at Union Station-1M Sq.ft. and some large co-location data centers located in Atlanta, GA – 48 MVA and Dallas, TX – 40 MVA.

Tell us about your background and why you chose to work at GDS?
Tom Gibbens and I got to know each other while working together on a committee for the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, and I when I was looking to make an employment change, Tom offered me a job.

What do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park, and strolls along the beach in Anna Maria Island, FL.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Husband, Father & Son.
