Telecommunications Cabling

  • Heartland Health Venture Telecommunications Upgrade, St Joseph, Missouri
This project consisted of managing the communications infrastructure installation in the existing hospital facility of approximately 500,000 square feet. The horizontal cabling consisted of approximately 900 drops with four Category 5e cables per drop. The data backbone consisted of both enhanced multimode fiber cable and singlemode fiber cable, with a redundant fiber telecommunications room (TR) and backbone pathway. Category 3 100-pair cable was used for the voice backbone, with the feeder cables terminated on rack-mount 110 blocks and patched into Category 5e patch panels for future flexibility (i.e. VoIP to the workstations). Cable supports consisted of ladder racking in the MC and TRs, and saddle hooks and j-hooks through the existing corridors.

  • Sprint PCS, Waterside One, Lenexa, Kansas
Primary Consultant for the design of the Fiber Optic and Category 5 Data and Voice Infrastructure. Design included raised flooring throughout office spaces, with zone cabling distribution boxes to feed individual offices. Over 600 drops of 3 Cat 5 cables each. Layout was provided to maximize flexibility for future adds, moves, and changes. Close coordination with electrical power distribution was provided for ease of installation. Backbone design included 12-strand multi-mode fiber between IDFs, as well as 24-strand Single-mode and 24-strand Multi-mode inter-building cables, with rack-mount terminations and management. The SMED 3" raised floor system was used to accommodate a fast track construction schedule.

  • Metropolitan Community College Infrastructure Upgrade, Kansas City, Missouri

Also provide documents for re-splicing 900 pair underground voice feeder cable.

  • Universal Underwriters Group, Overland Park, Kansas
Consultant for the design of the voice and data Communications infrastructure for over 800 Category 5E horizontal copper cables utilizing primary and secondary multi-mode and single-mode 62.5 fiber riser cable and supporting via raceway and cable tray for new high rise building. Also provided design assistance for the layout of a 2,500 square foot computer room.

  • Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Telephone System Replacement, Des Moines, Iowa
Project consisted of the design of a new Main Telephone Equipment Room to house a new DMARC and Northern Telecom phone switch along with new network servers and related equipment. In addition, there were approximately 1100 new voice/data drops consisting of one CAT 3 voice cable and two CAT 5 UTP data cables. A 24 strand fiber backbone cable was run from the Main Telephone Room to each of 14 IDF Closets throughout the complex of buildings. Project included the layout of the MDF and each IDF location as well as a detailed layout of each rack located in these areas. A specification for each piece of equipment was included. Design was laid out to EIA/TIA 568A standards as well as EIA/TIA 607 standards.
