Jay is Vice President for Gibbens Drake Scott, Inc.  He began his career in the design of electrical systems in 1984 and has experience in the design and implementation of electrical systems and voice, data, video cabling infrastructures for a wide range of commercial, industrial, institutional, educational and government projects.  He has designed a number of award winning lighting projects.  As Technology Designer, he has experience in designing the cable pathway and media for LAN, WAN, and Audio Visual networks.  Jay also has experience with wireless and Free Space Optics technology.

He has served as Project Manager and is familiar with the role of Prime Consultant and as a Construction Manager for MEP and T construction projects managing over million dollar budgets.  He has served to provide clients with quality electrical and technology design services and project management in all MEP disciplines.

He has experience in the design and layout of backbone and horizontal cabling systems, including Wire Closets and cable pathways, and has become very knowledgeable of both copper and fiber media types and their limitations.  He has designed many projects ranging from very few cable drops to large projects involving several hundred cable drops as well as their interaction with multiple media backbone configurations.  He has experience in the design and layout of CCTV and MATV systems in a wide variety of applications.

Jay has designed many building renovation projects that covered a broad scope of services that include additions/alterations to existing facilities, and/or maintenance/repair work.   Over half of the projects undertaken by the firm involve remodel or renovation as a part of the Scope of Work.  He has experience with critical use facilities and systems where modifications must be made with little or no downtime or outages.  He understands the relationships of the various systems and has experience in designing around obstacles that can be disruptive to normal operation.

Jay is also the treasurer and Board Member for the USGBC and has worked extensively with Microturbine and CHP technology and well as researching and designing several projects with Photovoltaic power and Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell systems. His personal passion is to research and discover uses and applications for alternative power.
